Source of Inspiration

Children inspire me. In the past, I have advocated on behalf of children at the policy level at UNICEF, ChildFund and a variety of other non-profit organizations. Later I decided that I wanted to work directly with children, therefore I pursued a degree in early childhood education.

What I have learned from my Students

I have observed that learning is a process an individual does at their own pace and in their own way. We also start at different places on our journey to acquire knowledge. Effective teachers are patient and motivate the child to stay on track to reach her/his full potential.

My proudest moment as an ASA Teacher

There have been many proud moments; however, one that stands out in my mind involves a young boy who particularly struggled with maintaining his attention and focus. After working with him for a couple of months, he recently was able to sit, take example from his classmates, and begin the wonderful journey of learning and writing …(on his own).

My favorite book

I have too many favorites and cannot pick one.
Here are a few: “Strega Nona” by Tomie de Paola; “The Relatives Came” by Cynthia Rylant; and “Slowly, Slowly Said the Sloth” by Eric Carle.
