Sister Emma is the Academy’s third Principal but she has been a fixture at ASA for nearly 35 years.
She joined the Academy’s Montessori Classrooms in 1982, where she learned English along with her students. During her free time, Sister Emma earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education and Early Childhood Education from Cabrini College. She graduated Magna Cum Laude.
Sister Emma, later earned her Master’s Certificate in Elementary Education/Early Childhood and her Montessori Certification from Chestnut Hill College. Again, she graduated Magna Cum Laude.
Sister Emma quickly became directress of the Montessori level. For two years she taught in the Montessori classrooms, a time she recalls as “her heaven.” The older students also became her pupils as she taught French and Religion to the upper grades.
Teaching comes naturally to Sister Emma, and she enjoys the spirituality, religious readings and sacred studies along with her pupils. She hopes by the end of each academic year, students will grow in many ways; academically, spiritually, emotionally, and socially. She wants the students to feel the satisfaction of achieving their goals and reaching their own personal highest level.
